Throughout the years, professional golf events have, and continue to be drawn to our scenic and various golfing options. Lake County was home to the PGA’s BMW Championship in 2013, 2015 and 2017 at Conway Farms Golf Course in Lake Forest. Lake County also hosted the 2016 LPGA UL Crown at the Merit Club in Gurnee. The 2012 US Mid-Amateur Championship, 2009 Western Amateur, 2008 US Open Sectional Qualifying and the 2007 Open Qualifier, and the 2000 U.S. Women’s Open were also held in Lake County.

With wide fairways, younger trees and fewer rolling hills, on the Prairie course golfers will deal with more wind; therefore a lower ball flight is more desirable. Tip from Alex: To hit keep the ball under the wind remember four easy steps: 1) take a slightly wider stance, 2) take one less club, 3) choke down two inches, 4) swing slower and maintain your balance.
