In celebration of Bogs and Fens, Volo Bog State Natural Area is accepting submissions for its annual Peatland Poetry Challenge through July 1. Winning entries will be featured during the site’s International Bog Day celebration on Sunday, July 27.

Poets may submit work in three categories: Bog Landscape & Vegetation, Bog Culture, and Ekphrastic (art-inspired) poetry. Submissions are accepted in two age categories: Youth (ages 12–17, with parental approval) and Adult.

First, second, and third place winners in each category will be invited to read their poems aloud during the July 27 event, receive a ribbon, have their work displayed at Volo Bog, and be published in a downloadable PDF booklet on the Friends of Volo Bog website.

The International Bog Day celebration on July 27 will also include an art show, poetry readings, and live music.
