Local birders are invited to join guided walks at Volo Bog State Natural Area and Chain O’Lakes State Park. Led by McHenry County Audubon members, the walks cover about three miles over a variety of habitats and are suitable for both novice and experienced participants. Walkers are encouraged to bring binoculars, dress for the weather and register in advance by emailing dnr.volobog@illinois.gov or calling 815-344-1294.

• Aug. 24 – Chain O’Lakes State Park with Lisa, 3 miles, 7 a.m., meet in Badger parking lot
• Sept. 21 – Volo Bog State Natural Area with Amanda, 3 miles, 8 a.m., meet in parking lot
• Oct. 11 – Volo Bog State Natural Area with Amanda, 3 miles, 8 a.m., meet in parking lot
• Nov. 16 – Volo Bog State Natural Area with Amanda, 3 miles, 8 a.m., meet in parking lot
