Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads will host a special screening of Stop Making Sense, newly restored last year in honor of its 40th anniversary. The 1984 film, widely regarded by critics as the greatest concert movie of all time, was selected in 2021 for preservation in the United States National Film Registry. Harrison, a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, will provide commentary before and after the screening and take questions from the audience.
Directed by Jonathan Demme, Stop Making Sense captures the band — Harrison, David Byrne, Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth — in a dynamic performance filmed over four nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre. With its mix of hit songs, inventive staging, funky dance moves and Byrne’s famously oversized suit, the film continues to resonate with audiences decades after its release.
