Downtown Waukegan's historic Genesee Theatre recently underwent a $23-million renovation that has restored the building to its original splendor. Perhaps the most striking addition is the 18-foot-tall Baccarat crystal chandelier that graces the lobby. The Genesee plays host to touring Broadways shows, along with headliner comedians and musical acts. Waukegan also features year-round special events and award-winning golf courses, parks and recreation, as well as an active charter fishing fleet sailing out of Waukegan Harbor.
