Let's look at things to do this weekend June 27-29, 2025.

1. CELEBRATE FOX LAKE

The Village known as the “Heart of the Chain O’Lakes” invites residents and visitors to "Celebrate Fox Lake," a full-day festival of entertainment, food and patriotic spirit at Lakefront Park. The annual celebration, which doubles as an early Independence Day event, starts with a community parade at 10 a.m., starting at Grant Community High School and concluding at Millennium Park. Classic hot rod enthusiasts can enjoy a car show at Millennium Park. Live music takes center stage at the Lakefront Park Amphitheatre featuring Judson Brown, followed by R-Gang's Motown hits and a headlining performance by Led Zeppelin tribute band Kashmir. The evening concludes with a fireworks display at dusk. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from local favorites including Mijo's Authentic Mexican Restaurant, the Fox Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Grant Community Baseball & Softball and more. Saturday, June 28; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Free admission. Food, drink and activities will cost extra. Parade: Grant High School, 285 E. Grand Ave., Fox Lake. Fireworks: Lakefront Park, 10 Riverview Ave., Fox Lake.

2. WAUCONDA FEST: ROCK WITH THE BEST

Wauconda Fest is back and ready to "Rock with the Best” at Cook Park, promising a four-day celebration packed with entertainment. The festival features live music, carnival rides, diverse food and drink vendors, games and a car show. Friday highlights include bingo, line dancing and music from Don't Rock the Jukebox and 7th Heaven. Saturday is highlighted by  a bags tournament and performances by The Abby Kay Band, Oh Yes! and Hello Weekend. The event concludes on Sunday with a car show, kids' Power Wheels exhibit and more live music, all complemented by on-site food and drink tents. For more information, visit WaucondaParks.com.

3. A NIGHT WITH ALEX ROSS AT THE DUNN MUSEUM IN LIBERTYVILLE

Comic book enthusiasts can meet iconic artist Alex Ross at a special VIP event, "A Night with Alex Ross," on Saturday, June 28, at the Dunn Museum in Libertyville. This exclusive event offers guests a first look at the new "Alex Ross: Heroes & Villains" exhibition, showcasing his photorealistic work for Marvel and DC Comics. Attendees will receive a limited-edition print by Ross, early exhibit access and a meet-and-greet with the artist. The evening includes fare from local food trucks, complimentary drinks, access to the museum's permanent galleries and the "National Geographic: The Greatest Wildlife Photographs" exhibit. 4. RAVINIA FESTIVAL: THE ROOTS, AL GREEN AND WEIRD AL

Ravinia Festival is set to deliver a blockbuster weekend of music and entertainment with performances by The Roots, Al Green and Weird Al Yankovic this weekend. Between the three acts, they have garnered 21 Grammy wins and 52 nominations. The Roots kick things off Friday with their signature blend of hip-hop, jazz and passion, followed by soul legend Al Green on Saturday, known for timeless hits like “Let’s Stay Together.” Sunday closes with comedy rock icon Weird Al, who brings his Bigger & Weirder Tour featuring fan-favorite parodies and a multimedia stage show. 5. STRAWBERRY FEST IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN LONG GROVE

The annual Strawberry Festival returns to Historic Downtown Long Grove offering three days of berry-themed treats, carnival rides, shopping and live entertainment. Festival-goers can enjoy tribute bands, family-friendly performances and more across three music stages, with headliners like Too Fighters, Dancing Queen and more. Food vendors and local restaurants will serve strawberry-infused drinks and menu specials, while over 20 shops offer themed merchandise. Unlimited carnival ride specials are available each day, and free shuttle service is offered Saturday and Sunday from a remote parking lot located at Archer Road between Fountain Square and the carnival. There are also two separate lots at Lions Club and Long Grove Community providing paid parking. For ticket information, visit LongGrove.org. 

Friday-Sunday, June 27-29; Fri. noon-11 p.m., Sat.: 10 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sun. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Admission starts at $5 per day. Kids ages 12 and younger receive free entry. Historic Downtown Long Grove, various locations between Old McHenry and Robert Parker Coffin Roads, Long Grove.

6. TASTE OF GRAYSLAKE

The Grayslake Park District will host its annual Taste of Grayslake Family Picnic and Fireworks on Saturday, June 28 at Central Park. The event features food vendors, carnival rides, local business booths and live music from Rock Legacy, The Complex and Big City Knights. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and enjoy the festive community atmosphere. The Grayslake event hosts over 20 fare vendors including local favorites like Dog N Suds, BBQ Productions, Mama Jerk n Tings and more.
