1. LAKE COUNTY ROAD TRIPS

Hit the open road and explore Lake County, Illinois, where you're free to craft your perfect getaway. 3. 62nd Annual Deerfield Family Days

Deerfield Parks Family Days

Kicking off the holiday weekend, families can enjoy children's activities, carnival games and live music at Jewett Park in Deerfield. The opener band, Louie in the Middle, will take the stage before a flag-raising ceremony by American Legion Post 738. Headliner Mike and Joe follows, leading up to a fireworks show around 9:15 p.m. The fun continues on July 4 with the Deerfield Rotary 5K at Walden School, a Lions Club breakfast and a full day of attractions at Jewett Park, including amusement rides, live music by Spicy City, a bike parade and the always-popular dog show. The Independence Day Parade steps off at noon from Deerspring Pool, and the day wraps with a pie-eating contest at 2 p.m. Entry to many activities is free, with food, games and wristbands available for purchase. 4. Mundelein Community Days

One of Lake County's most anticipated summer festivals, Mundelein Community Days, is back, promising four days of music, food, games and family fun at Courtland Commons. The annual celebration draws thousands of residents and visitors with its diverse array of attractions, including a carnival, live entertainment, fireworks, children's activities, contests and community demonstrations. 5. Beach Fest in Round Lake Beach

Beach Fest in Round Lake Beach

The Village of Round Lake Beach invites the community to celebrate Independence Day at Beach Fest. This family-friendly event features a festive evening of live music, magic shows, food trucks, vendors and beverages, all leading up to a spectacular fireworks display at dusk presented by the Round Lake Area Park District. The entertainment lineup includes performances by the Jesus Ramos Band and Six Speed Tranny, offering a mix of energetic sounds to keep the crowd dancing throughout the night. 6. Star Spangled Nights at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee

Six Flags Great America will host its annual Star-Spangled Nights celebration, featuring three nights of patriotic fireworks presented by M&M's®, from July 3-5. Billed as one of the most dazzling Fourth of July events in the region, the nightly fireworks display will combine vibrant visuals, booming sound and patriotic music for an immersive, family-friendly experience. Guests can enjoy a full day of thrills leading up to the show, including the park's newest attraction, the Wrath of Rakshasa — a record-breaking dive coaster — and beloved favorites like the Whizzer and American Eagle. Visitors can also take a dip in the drink the Gurnee amusement park’s second attraction Hurricane Harbor Chicago. The splashtastic venue features water slides including the Guinness Book of World Records coaster Tsunami Surge, a wading pool, lazy rivers and more.  For the best viewing experience, guests are encouraged to arrive early and check the park's official website at SixFlags.com.
