Things To Do This Weekend February 16-18

After another long week, we are thrilled to welcome the weekend once again. We hope everyone had a spectacular Valentine's Day and that you were able to do something special regardless of your relationship status.

If you haven't started the celebration yet, there are still plenty of great spots in Lake County that are offering Valentine's specials until the end of the weekend. Check out our calendar of events to learn more.

1. Northern Illinois Golf Expo at the Lake County Fairgrounds and Event Center

Shoot for par this weekend at the Lake County Fairgrounds and Event Center. The Grayslake venue hosts the second annual Northern Illinois Golf Expo. Bring the family and get ready for the upcoming golf season with a variety of deals on equipment, apparel, accessories and more. Attendees are also encouraged to test out the latest equipment from major manufacturers in the demo area.

Friday-Sunday, Feb. 16-18; Fri. noon – 6 p.m. Sat. 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sun. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission $5. Lake County Fairgrounds and Event Center, 1060 E. Peterson Rd., Grayslake.

2. Waukegan Events: ArtWauk and Shades of Bublé

Visit Waukegan on Saturday for a variety of events including the ArtWauk in downtown Waukegan, and Shades of Bublé at the Genesee Theatre. Stroll through downtown Waukegan and experience the arts revolution through paintings, sculptures, film, dance, theatre, comedy, music, food and more. The group, Shades of Bublé, pay homage to the charismatic singer Michael Bublé by delivering each song in a beautiful three-part harmony. This high-energy show promises to be a swingin,’ swayin’ and rockin’ good time.

Saturday, Feb. 17; Various times. ArtWauk: Free admission, Genesee Theatre show: $35.50-$45.50. Downtown Waukegan.

3. Cirque Zuma Zuma at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts - College of Lake County

The ultimate African circus is the spectacle of Cirque Zuma Zuma, which will make its way to the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts this Saturday. Acrobats from over 16 African nations display mesmerizing dance, balancing acts, juggling, contortionist acts and more. Cirque Zuma Zuma mesmerizes audiences around the globe thanks to its action-packed, awe-inspiring, incredible performances.

Saturday, Feb. 17; 7 p.m. Admission $37-$42. Mainstage Theatre at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the College of Lake County, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake.

4. Bye, Bye Bucca: A Valentine's Murder Mystery

Discover your inner detective at the Improv Playhouse’s Bye, Bye Bucca event this Saturday. This Valentine’s themed murder mystery dinner is hosted by Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center where attendees play detective and grill suspects to solve the crime. The interactive performance is set in the Roaring ‘20s including props, storylines and planted clues to solve the crime. Dinner, a champagne toast and more are included with admission. Attendees are welcome to dress in 1920s-era costumes.

Saturday, Feb. 17; 7 p.m. Admission $50. Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center, 2007 Civic Center Way, Round Lake Beach.

5. "Sex With Strangers" at the Citadel Theatre

“Sex with Strangers” is a taut comedy about love and fame in the age of social media. This Citadel Theatre production written by Laura Eason and directed by Scott Westerman is one of the most produced plays in America. The story follows a young female novelist and her relationship with a young male blogger. The Lake Forest show displays the complex nature of using our devices on a daily basis. The show runs through March 4.

Sunday, Feb. 16-18; Fri.-Sat. 8 p.m, Sun. 3 p.m.. Admission: $37.50-$40. Citadel Theatre, 300 S. Waukegan Rd., Lake Forest.
