A Sense and Cents of the Holidays

The senses create memories. Whether it’s the smell of evergreen, hearing a favorite holiday song, immersing in twinkling lights, the taste of peppermint bark or the touch of Jack Frost’s nip in the air, holiday tours are popular for creating lasting memories.

Libertyville Tree Lighting

The Midwest embraces our four seasons. Let us help you create a seasonal, possible mystery tour to our unique attractions or a return back for some holiday spirit. Either way, with all the hustle and bustle of the season, take some time out to relax (and get your shopping done too) to appreciate this most wonderful time of the year!

FIRST DAY

Sanfilippo Estate Christmas Luncheon and Concert

Start your day with a chocolate tour at our Long Grove Confectionery Co. Save time for shopping in the store which includes seconds, bargain and full retail items.

A highlight of the season for so many is at the Sanfilippo Estate’s Christmas Luncheon and Concert. A full afternoon of a luncheon in the Carousel Pavilion followed by a live concert of festive music. The organ has over 7000 pipes and your group can tour the estate on their own afterwards. Book this early to avoid disappointment!

Check in or return to your Lake County hotel. We have over 60 to choose from - resorts, full and limited service. Schedule a fun interactive dinner with the Improv Playhouse’s “A Christmas Carol To Die For, Great Reindeer Hoax or The Elf Who Knew Too Much” at the hotel or local restaurant. Take advantage of $20 off per room night through December 2024!

SECOND DAY

Lightscape at Chicago Botanic Garden

Shopping and craft making brings out creativity at Treetime Christmas Creations, a local favorite for Christmas trees and décor. Followed by lunch in the Great Hall of Wild Onion Brewery & Banquets (part of our Libation Trail) or in the train car at Chessie’s Restaurant. Or a Christmas ornament demo/making at Peter Patterson Glassworks with lunch at Gale Street Inn or Dover Straits with baritone Jeorge Holmes.

Spend the afternoon in charming Historic Downtown Long Grove. Split your group between Ma & Pa’s Candy’s candy dipping class and the surprisingly delightful Sock Monkey Museum. Tour only or stuff your own monkey, they have lots of accessories and holiday items in the gift shop.

Lightscape is the enchanting after-dark illuminated outdoor light display at Chicago Botanic Garden. Let your group dine on own while walking the trail or we’ll find you a cheerful nearby restaurant before your tour. Tickets go on sale in the summertime, so don’t delay on this one!

THIRD DAY

Glunz Family Winery + Cellars in Grayslake

Save dollars and cents at Gurnee Mills for outlet, factory direct and full retail shopping. Your group can dine on their own in a selection of two Food Courts, Lola’s Tacos & Tequila or Rainforest Café. Plus many options surround the dollar shaped mall. Or for group experience, we suggest Primo Italian American Cuisine or The Shanty.

The week before the holiday is Quentin Road’s Christmas Musical.

Fun seasonal stops before heading home - Glunz Family Winery and Cellars Glögg Mug with warm glögg and/or Tony Cannoli pick-up pre-ordered cannoli for holiday get togethers or to enjoy on the way home.

No matter how you package together this holiday tour, it just makes sense!
