The Waukegan Historical Society, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, was established in 1968 to preserve and promote the rich history of Waukegan. For more than 55 years, the Society has connected people with Waukegan’s past, present and future through dynamic exhibitions, educational programs, its research archives, publications and tours.
The Waukegan Historical Society operates the Waukegan History Museum at the Carnegie and the Haines House Museum in Bowen Park, in partnership with the Waukegan Park District. The Waukegan Historical Society’s Research Archives include extensive collections consisting of objects, photographs, and documents encompassing its people’s history and the development of the city.
