The Avett Brothers and Mike Patton have teamed up to form AVTT/PTTN, an unexpected collaboration blending rootsy Americana, theatrical pop and experimental rock. Their self-titled debut album, released in November 2025, has earned rave reviews for its eclectic mix of styles that highlight the strengths of both artists.
The Avett Brothers, a three-time Grammy-nominated folk-rock band, are known for their blend of bluegrass, country, punk and pop. Their 2009 breakout album I and Love and You brought mainstream attention, followed by chart-topping releases The Carpenter (2012) and Magpie and the Dandelion (2013). Their music later inspired the 2022 Broadway musical Swept Away.
Mike Patton, known for his work with Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, has built a career on genre-bending experimentation and high-profile collaborations. Beyond his rock and avant-pop projects, he has also composed scores for films including Crank: High Voltage and The Place Beyond the Pines.
The collaboration brings together signature Avett Brothers tracks and Patton favorites in a genre-spanning performance that showcases both artists’ versatility.
