Pine Dunes features rolling hills and beautiful panoramic views of prairie, savanna and oak-hickory woodlands.

The preserve offers 2.8 miles of gravel trails along with four boardwalks, three scenic overlooks, a drinking fountain and a toilet.

Trails here are open to hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing and horseback riding.

Please keep dogs leashed and on trails at all times, and pick up after them.

Learn about our off-leash Dog Parks (permit required).

The trails at Pine Dunes connect to the Des Plaines River Trail along Russell Road to Van Patten Woods Forest Preserve in Wadsworth.

Eventually, trails here also will connect to our regional Millennium Trail.
