Museum After Dark Program: The History of Trinity A.M.E. Church and the Lake County African American Community in Waukegan

The Waukegan Park District and the Waukegan Historical Society are partnering to host Museum After Dark Program: The History of Trinity A.M.E. Church and the Lake County African American Community on Thursday, February 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Waukegan History Museum at the Carnegie, located at 1 N. Sheridan Road. This event is free for the community but registration is required.

Dr. Gregory Gordon, Professor of History at College of Lake County, tells the story of “The History of Trinity A.M.E. Church and the Lake County African American Community” highlighting the church’s role as a spiritual, cultural, and social anchor for African Americans in Lake County. The presentation covers how Trinity A.M.E. has supported faith, education and civil rights efforts while fostering community, leadership and collective identity across generations.
