Waukegan will host its annual Jingle on Genesee celebration on Saturday, Nov. 29, offering an evening of free holiday activities throughout the downtown area. The event begins with the Go Waukegan Winter Hot Chocolate Walk from 4 to 5 p.m., hosted by the Waukegan Park District. Participants can check in at Jack Benny Plaza for a community walk and complimentary hot chocolate.
From 4 to 8 p.m., the Kris Kringle Artisan Market will be held at the Waukegan Public Library, featuring handmade goods from local vendors and free photos with Santa. During the same hours, Jack Benny Plaza will offer holiday activities hosted by the City of Waukegan Chamber of Commerce, including free Conchita’s, champurrado, and family-friendly seasonal entertainment.
The city’s official tree-lighting ceremony is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Jack Benny Plaza, with live performances and caroling. A free downtown shuttle, provided by Waukegan Township, will run from 4 to 8 p.m. to help visitors explore area businesses, galleries and restaurants.
