A state of the art history museum dedicated to collecting and sharing the history of the greater Grayslake area. The Grayslake Heritage Center offers programs, exhibitions and special events all year round and includes four galleries and a community room.

The museum's annex, just north of the main facility, is home to a number of the Grayslake Historical Society's larger artifacts. These include a 1954 fire truck, 19th century hearse, kerosene wagon, Model-T truck, and numerous tools and agricultural implements. "Wilbur," the fire engine, was made in Grayslake and is a favorite in area parades.

Embracing Change, the crown jewel of the museum, traces the origins and evolution of Grayslake through four themed sections. Visitors journey from the village’s agrarian roots and railroad beginnings, to its thriving early businesses, civic life, and enduring industries, before concluding with an interactive look at how the community has transformed over time—while some areas remain strikingly familiar. Rich with images, artifacts, and hands-on elements, the exhibit offers a vivid portrait of Grayslake’s past and present.
