This weekend in Lake County is filled with a variety of exciting events for everyone to enjoy. Find your favorite festive celebration, themed party, cultural experiences or just enjoy some outdoor fun. Don’t miss the opportunity to join Lake County's events this fall!

Here are the top five things to do this weekend September, 27-29. 

1. Barbie’s Birthday Bash in Downtown Antioch

Get ready to enter a world of pink, fashion and fun as downtown Antioch hosts Barbie’s Birthday Bash. This all-ages event promises a nostalgic and exciting afternoon filled with activities for Barbie fans of all generations and don’t forget to bring Ken along for the fun! Following the launch party at Rivalry Alehouse, the bash will begin with a birthday party and fashion show. Dress up as Barbie for a chance to walk the runway and win prizes for the best look. Barbie’s party also features a birthday cupcake celebration, games, photo ops and many chances to win! The first 100 people to register will receive a special keepsake bag. Throughout the afternoon, participating shops in downtown Antioch will join the fun by hosting raffles, scavenger hunts and more photo opportunities. 2. Corks and Kegs: Beer and Wine Tasting Event at Wauconda’s Phil’s Beach 

Make your way to the scenic shores of Wauconda’s Bangs Lake for an unforgettable afternoon of tastings, live music and community fun. Corks and Kegs will take over Phil's Beach, offering guests a chance to experience regional wine and beer, all while supporting a great cause. Enjoy live music by local favorite Mike Novello, creating the perfect backdrop for a relaxing lakeside experience. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wauconda Park District’s Osage Park redevelopment project, making your attendance both enjoyable and impactful. 3. Hispanic Heritage Month at Gurnee Mills

Join the vibrant celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month or Celebralo Con Nosotros at the Show Court Stage at Gurnee Mills. Attendees can enjoy a dynamic afternoon of dancing and music. A highlight of the celebration is a special Hispanic heritage play, which shares the rich history and traditions of the Hispanic community. A mariachi band will fill the air with its iconic melodies, resource tables offering information on community services and delicious food showcasing the flavors of Hispanic cuisine. 4. Hoptoberfest at Tighthead Brewing Co. in Mundelein

Get ready for the return of Hoptoberfest at Tighthead Brewing Company in Mundelein. This free, all-ages event will feature live music, food trucks and fresh brews. The Lake County Libation Trail partner will serve its signature craft beers and special new releases, including the much-anticipated I and I DIPA. The event will feature offerings from local food trucks Curious Crow and Weez’s Groovin’ BBQ. Revel in live music with Billy Nixon, My Cousins Jacket and Join the Fun. 5. "Junie B. Jones: Toothless Wonder" at James Lumber Center

Experience an entertaining and heartwarming performance of “Junie B. Jones: Toothless Wonder” at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts. Watch as Junie B. Jones grapples with losing her first tooth, and she can’t help but wonder what the Tooth Fairy does with all those teeth. But that’s not her only dilemma—while her entire class has been invited to classmate Jim’s birthday party, Junie finds herself without an invitation. The Grayslake stage adaptation brings to life the charming and witty world of book series’ author Barbara Park’s beloved character. Don’t miss this chance to visit the quirky, colorful world of Junie B. Jones and learn what it truly means to grow up.
