When you’re out and about throughout Lake County this weekend be sure to capture the moment with a picture. Submit those gram-worthy images to Visit Lake County’s #LetsSnapLakeCounty Photo Contest. From the colorful trees in our vast green spaces to family fun at the pumpkin farm, from boasting your land of lakes cuisine to sipping a seasonal ale at a local brewery, to capturing a neat shot of main street with a drone and everything in between, shutterbuggers can submit for various categories. Individuals may submit up to five photos. Up to six winners of the #LetsSnapLakeCounty Photo Contest can win a $100 VISA Gift Card or an overnight stay in one of Lake County’s lavish accommodations, as well as photo credit in future tourism marketing materials. Head to VisitLakeCounty.org/Lets-Snap-Lake-County-Photo-Contest or post your imagery on Instagram utilizing #LetsSnapLakeCounty. Later this year, Visit Lake County will announce a grand prize winner as well as the following categories: Outdoor Photos, Family/People Imagery, Dining/Libations, Lake County Events and Other Travel Culture (i.e. architecture, downtown areas, photomanipulation, shopping, drone and more).The photo contest ends October 31.

You don’t want to miss Lincolnshire’s annual Boo Bash on Friday at North Park. The spooky season event features Halloween fun with its haunted trails, pumpkin decorating, inflatables, face painting, Touch-A-Truck, pumpkin decorating, live music and more. The Lincolnshire festivities are also highlighted by a fire juggler, magicians and a balloon sculptor. Eats, drinks and adult beverages for purchase will be provided by Culver’s Restaurant and Lake County Libation Trail partner Half Day Brewing Co. Other delectable bites are offered by on-site food trucks like Lucky Burger Grill of Mundelein, Culinary Gangster and Mario’s Cart. Halloween costumes are encouraged. The Lincolnshire event asks visitors for new or lightly used winter clothing to be donated to the Midwest Veterans Closet as a suggested donation.

There’s a spooktacular family event for your ghosts and goblins on Friday hosted by the Vernon Hills Park District. The Vernon Hills Fall Fest at the Sullivan Community Center features indoor trick-or-treating, the annual costume contest and more. Fest-goers can boogie it up at the black light dance party and enjoy illusions beyond your belief by attending a magic show. Registration is required for all attendees and ghouls ages two and under receive free entry. Admission is $3 per person.

This weekend, celebrate Halloween with an ode to the medium that often terrorized the audiences of yesteryear. Improv Playhouse Theater in downtown Libertyville brings to life their interpretation of the 1938 Orson Welles Mercury Radio Theatre production of Bram Stoker’s classic, “Dracula.” The iconic radio play is performed live onstage by the talented group of thespians, as audiences will conjure images of fright and terror with this heralded tale. The theater encourages visitors to wear Halloween costumes as there will be prizes and giveaways for those audience members voted best dressed. Shows are scheduled for Friday and Saturday night. The performances have a $5 corking fee for “BYOB” show-goers ages 21 and older. Tickets start at $7.50. Visit ImprovPlayhouse.com for advance tickets or call directly 847-968-4529.

The Halloween Trail of Treats & Fest hosted by the Zion Park District, along with local businesses will close spooky season this Friday. This Halloween drive-thru experience encourages visitors to don a costume and decorate their vehicles as they cruise through multiple trick-or-treat stops at Shiloh Park. Walk-up bags will be available at the Kiwanis Shelter located at Bethel Boulevard and 27th Street. Participants are required to remain in their vehicles throughout the experience. The event will run alongside the city park district’s Dia de Los Muertos Fiesta de Sendero de Golosinas (Day of the Dead Candy Trail).
