Pumpkin patches, hayrides and the lovely scenes created by the fall season make it easy to snap a picture for our #LetsSnapLakeCounty Photo Contest.  Submit your photo by clicking here.

You can walk among the undead in downtown Waukegan. They are having beer, breakfast and a nice stroll in Antioch. If you like model trains then Lambs Farm is the place to be. You just might spot a "ten second" car in Vernon Hills. Reptiles are a plenty in Lake Forest. Let's take a look at the top five things to do this weekend October 15-17.

1. ZombieWAUK in Waukegan

It’ll be like a scene out of “The Walking Dead” with downtown Waukegan as the backdrop. The 11th  annual ZombieWAUK returns with its salute to the undead art-horror scene and a slew of other Halloween-inspired happenings. The spooky season event is highlighted by pumpkin painting, costume contests for kids, adults and pets plus artwork displayed by many of the talented. ZombieWAUK also features performances from live bands including Low-Reen and The Lazy Dogs. The City of Progress’s downtown area will be bustling as the Ray Bradbury Experience Museum hosts its inaugural comic book convention, Wauke-Con 2021. The GreenTown author’s museum will house comic book vendors, artists and authors like “Marvel Legends,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and Star Wars writer Warren Freeman, jeweler and accessories-maker Danielle Gregory and more. The Waukegan museum also features a costume contest for cosplayers, the lighting of the Halloween Tree and more.

ZombieWauk, Saturday, October 16; 5-9 pm. Admission is free. Downtown Waukegan.

Wauke-Con 2021, Saturday-Sunday, October 16-17; noon-6 p.m. Admission: $3. Ray Bradbury Experience Museum, 13 N. Genesee St., Waukegan.

The event’s admission includes a keepsake beer mug for sampling and a coupon for a complimentary four or six-pack of beer. Seating accommodations at the Antioch brewery run from 10-11 a.m.
