Academy Award-winning director David Lynch once said, “My movies are film-paintings - moving portraits captured on celluloid.” The 11th annual Lake County Film Festival returns after a 2020 pandemic hiatus. Witness some of the most avant-garde and innovative examples of filmmaking throughout the month of November. The cinematic celebration will commemorate its longest run yet with 12 days of in-person films from November 4-15 at the College of Lake County in Grayslake and Three Brothers Theatre in Waukegan. The three-satellite cinema fest (including Thursdays Gorton Community Center kickoff event) is highlighted by documentaries, shorts, music-related films, narratives, international presentations and more. Some of this weekend’s features include films like “Quirk,” “A Tiny Ripple of Hope,” “Get Out Alive,” “Missing in Brooks County,” “United States vs. Reality Winner,” “See You Next Christmas” and more.  The festival will transition into an online virtual setting om select days from November 18-29.

Switchback is a duet concocting American folk and Celtic sounds. Band members Brian FitzGerald and Martin McCormack grace College of Lake County’s James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts in Grayslake as they’ve created wonderful tunes for over a quarter of a century. The international tandem was born after Grammy Award-winning producer Lloyd Maines worked with Switchback in the 1990s. The rest is history as the award-winning pair have 13 albums to their name. The “Traveling down an Irish Road” concert marks the reopening of the storied Grayslake theater reopening its doors to the public as we continue to recover from the national health crisis.
