Things To Do This Weekend May 30-June 1, 2025

The unofficial start of summer is here, and Lake County is kicking things off with a bang! This weekend is packed with exciting events for every interest, from craft beer celebrations and family-friendly festivals to unique parties featuring Olympic athletes. Get ready to soak up the sun and enjoy all that Lake County has to offer with these must-attend happenings.

Let's take a look at things to do this weekend May 30-June 1, 2025

1. Brews and Views at Independence Grove in Libertyville

Local craft beer lovers will find plenty to toast at Brews and Views, a lakeside celebration of Lake County Libation Trail breweries. The event will feature samples from a dozen regional breweries, live music and food in a relaxed, scenic setting. Participating brewers include 9th Hour Brewing Co., Black Lung Brewing Company, Buffalo Creek Brewing, Half Day Brewing, Harbor Brewing Company, Liquid Love Brewing Company, Mickey Finn’s Brewery, Phase Three Brewing Company, Roaring Table Brewing Co., Steep Ravine Brewing and Tighthead Brewing Company. A $30 punch card, available for purchase at the event, includes 10 four-ounce tastings, a souvenir glass and a small bite from Relish Café. 2. Craft Beer Tasting at Century Park in Vernon Hills

The 12th annual Craft Beer Tasting event is set to return, offering an afternoon of local brews. Beer enthusiasts will sample from more than 20 Chicago-area breweries, including Lake County Libation Trail partners Mickey Finn’s Brewery, Roaring Table Brewing Co. and more. Attendees will receive a complimentary tasting glass with each ticket purchase. In addition to beer tastings, the event features music from a live DJ, food available for purchase from area food trucks and a line dancing lesson led by Kickin’ It with Carol. Saturday, May 31; 3-7 p.m. Tickets start at $35. Century Park, 1001 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills. 

3. Lakefront Beach Party and Bike Rodeo at Lakefront Park in Fox Lake

The Village of Fox Lake will kick off summer with its Lakefront Beach Party and Bike Rodeo. Highlights include live music from a DJ, games and beachside activities and more. Free bike helmets will be distributed, and attendees can receive free tune-ups and inspections courtesy of Antioch Cyclery. Food will be available for purchase from local vendors including Stix and Noodles, Erika’s Odd Coffee Co. and Kiki’s Cotton Candy. The event, hosted by the Fox Lake Parks and Recreation Department and the Fox Lake Police Department, celebrates both the anticipated opening of the new Lakefront Park Beach and National Bike Safety Month. 4. Taste of Summer in Antioch

Antioch's highly anticipated Taste of Summer festival is back with new dates, a new carnival and an expanded lineup of food vendors, live entertainment and family-friendly fun. Weekend entertainment features carnival rides and live performances, including Rhythm of the Rocket Man, The Neverly Brothers, Radio Gaga and The Blooze Brothers. Food lovers can choose from 12 diverse vendors, including The Brat Shop, Taste of Poland and more. “A Taste of Shopping—Indoors" will also highlight local Antioch retailers with special deals. The festival coincides with a reunion celebration for Antioch Community High School’s Class of 1995. 5. 10th Anniversary Party at Goldfish Swim School in Mundelein

Goldfish Swim School

Goldfish Swim School is marking a major milestone with a splash, with their 10th Anniversary Party featuring Olympic gold medalist Cullen Jones as a special guest. Jones, a four-time Olympic medalist and one of the most decorated African American swimmers in U.S. history, will be on-site for a meet-and-greet. Families are invited to dive into an afternoon of water-themed activities, including three one-hour family swim sessions, free mock swim lessons, water safety stations, balloon twisting and more. Families are asked to bring their own towels. U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets will be available to borrow. For more information, visit GoldfishSwimSchool.com/Mundelein.
