"Everyone's a little Irish on St. Patrick's Day!" The old adage rings true this weekend with several of Lake County's top things to do this weekend March 15-17.

1. ArtWauk/Jim Breuer in Waukegan

It’s a wacky weekend in Waukegan and you’re invited to join the fun. The city’s famed ArtWauk “paints” the town with sculptures, film, theatre, comedy, music, performance art, food and more. The free admission Saturday arts event opens the doors to all art galleries throughout Waukegan. Also, former “Saturday Night Live” actor, Jim Breuer brings his witty comedy and hilarious impressions to the Genesee Theatre on Friday evening. The zany comedian is listed on Comedy Central’s 100 Greatest Standups of All Time for his crazy stage antics speaking on subjects spanning marriage, parenting and heavy metal music. 2. "Marvelocity" at the Bess Bower Dunn Museum

Fly to Libertyville this weekend to discover the works of renowned comic book artist, Alex Ross for “Marvelocity” Ross’s repertoire includes the iconic images of Spiderman, Captain America, Iron Man, Storm from X-Men, the Avengers, Black Panther and more. Attendees at the Bess Bower Dunn Museum exhibit will experience a short documentary focusing on Ross’s life work: dozens of illustrations featuring some of Marvel and DC Comics famous heroes and villains. “Marvelocity: The Art of Alex Ross” exhibit runs through September 8.

Friday-Sunday, March 15-17; Fri.-Sat.: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sun.: Noon-5 p.m. Admission: $3-$6. Bess Bower Dunn Museum of Lake County, 1899 W. Winchester Rd., Libertyville.

3. Deer Park Town Center's St. Paddy's Day 5K/10K Run/Walk

Lace up your running shoes for Deer Park’s annual St. Paddy’s 5K and 10K Run/Walk. Gather your greatest green gear and hit the path as the sweet sounds of live Irish music fill the air. Cross the finish line and receive a handful of Irish-inspired treats, a commemorative pint glass and other post-race goodies. There’s also a Kids Dash competition beginning at 8:15 a.m. For more information and to register, visit shopdeerparktowncenter.com.

4. Wauconda's "Shamrock the Block"

Wauconda’s esteemed “Shamrock the Block” event makes its triumphant return this weekend. A handful of holiday-themed activities occur throughout the three-day event featuring live music, the annual parade, a breakfast buffet, a pub crawl, a trip-to-Ireland raffle and many other raffles,a dip into the chilly waters of Bangs Lake at Lindy’s Landing’s Leprechaun Plunge and more. Each event requires separate admission and the proceeds benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Visit shamrock60084.com for more information about the Wauconda celebration.

5. Million Dollar Quartet at the Marriott Theatre

This weekend marks the curtain call for the Marriott Theatre’s “Million Dollar Quartet.” Join the likes of Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis as the Tony Award-winning musical, graces the Lincolnshire stage. Four of the most illustrious singers and songwriters met in Memphis on December 4, 1956 for what would eventually be dubbed as one of the greatest jam sessions of all time. The cast of “Million Dollar Quartet” will perform several hit songs from that generation including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Walk the Line,” “Hound Dog” and more throughout the evening’s tale.

Friday-Saturday, March 15-16; Fri.: 8 p.m. Sat.: 4 and 8 p.m. Admission: $50-$60. Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Dr., Lincolnshire.
