1. Strawberry Fest in Historic Downtown Long Grove

"And nothing to get hung about. Strawberry fields forever!" Experiencing summer in Historic Downtown Long Grove is always a treat. Long Grove Strawberry Fest is a "berry" wonderful celebration offering everything from chocolate-covered strawberries, strawberry martinis, and … more strawberry-fused foods. The festival features live music all day on three different stages, unique shopping, special fare, and kid-tivities for the entire weekend. The fruit frenzy features live performances from Dancing Queen: An ABBA Salute, Burning Red, 7th Heaven, KennyLive, Kashmir: The Led Zeppelin Show, Petty Kings, and more.

Friday-Sunday, June 23-25; Fri.: noon-11 p.m., Sat.: 10 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sun.: 10 a.m. 6 p.m. Historic Downtown Long Grove, various locations Old McHenry and Robert Coffin Roads, Long Grove.

2. Taste of Grayslake at Central Park in Grayslake

'The rocket's red glare' and 'the bombs bursting in air' appears early in Grayslake. The Taste of Grayslake festivities includes live entertainment, a moonwalk, carnival rides, face painting, an obstacle course, wall climbing, and so much more. Tickets for the carnival rides start at $1.25 each, or a sheet of 18 tickets for $20. The Taste of Grayslake also features live music from Pino Farina Band and Vinyl Goldmine. Lake County Libation Trail partners Glunz Family Winery & Cellars and Light the Lamp Brewery of Grayslake will sell adult beverages on site. Visitors will be overjoyed with the array of eats provided for purchase at the Fourth of July event. The June 24 fireworks show begins at dusk.

Saturday, June 24; 3-10 p.m. Central Park, Center, and Lake Streets, Grayslake.

3. The Taste of Highland Park and Bitter Jester Festival Grand Finale at The Lot in Highland Park

Savor the delectable eats as the Taste of Highland Park returns with exceptional dishes from Lake County chefs and excellent music. This fan favorite at The Lot showcases a variety of delicious cuisines and beverages. The music lineup includes The Ides of March, American English, Yachtley Crew, Sister Sadie Band, and the top individuals from the Bitter Jester Music Festival. Some restaurants include Ravinia Brewing Co., Jerk' N More Too, and other eateries. In addition, a fantastic weekend lineup of live music will consist of nationally recognized headliners and on-site fun for the entire family!

4. Summer Spotlight Evening Performance with Tempel Lippizzans in Old Mill Creek

"Giddy-up, giddy-up, giddy-up, let's go." Let's go to The Tempel Lipizzans Summer Spotlight Performance. These gifted stallions will perform in a four-segment exhibition of classical riding at the Old Mill Creek farm. The program includes a tribute to the Olympic sport of showcasing equestrian dressage and a performance of the maneuvers of Middle Ages battle techniques utilized in the Middle Ages soldiers. The steeds will run through its five-segment routine that includes the Quadrille. As mentioned earlier, the movement demonstrates the classical dressage technique and the distinguished level of communication between trainer and horse. In addition to the stallion ballet, equestrian enthusiasts can explore the bond between mares and their babies as the Lake County farm hosts their Foals Presentation. The Tempel Lipizzans celebrates 65 years: Dancing through the Decades with new music. Visitors can purchase tickets at TempelFarms.com.

5. Summer Kick-Off Festival at Harbor Brewing Company in Lake Villa

The summer solstice has officially arrived. Lake County Libation Trail partner Harbor Brewing Co. in Lake Villa throws a three-day Summer Kick-off Festival highlighted by live music, delectable eats, and its award-winning brews. The entertainment featured includes The Bluesberrys, Joydog, Inbound, and others. The brewhub also welcomes over 20 local vendors and multiple cuisine options daily.
Friday-Sunday, June 23-25; Fri. and Sat.: noon-midnight and Sun.: noon-8 p.m.
