The weather may not be saying so, but tomorrow marks the first day of summer in this edition of things to do this weekend June 21-23.

From berries to berry vino, from Basquiat to beach bashes, Lake County is on island time this weekend.

Here are your top things to do this weekend June 21-23.

1. Long Grove Strawberry Fest

“And nothing to get hung about. Strawberry fields forever!” Experiencing summer in Historic Downtown Long Grove is always a treat. Long Grove Strawberry Fest is a “berry” wonderful celebration that offers everything from chocolate covered strawberries, strawberry martinis and …well, more strawberry-fused foods. The festival features live music all day on three different stages, unique shopping, impressive fare and kid-tivities for the entire weekend. The fruit frenzy features live performances from Hi Infidelity, Infinity, the Modern Day Romeos and more.

Friday-Sunday, June 21-23; Fri.: 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Sat.: 10 a.m.-11 p.m., Sun.: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Admission: $5 per day or $10 for three-day pass. Children 12 and under receive free entry. Historic Downtown Long Grove, 308 Old McHenry Rd., Long Grove.

2. Festival of Fine Arts in Highland Park

The Highland Park Art Center Festival of Fine Arts will showcase the work of about 100-juried artists from around the world in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, painting, sculpture and more. In addition to the incredible artwork available for purchase, attendees to the Festival of Fine Arts will be able to interact with artists through demonstrations and booth chats. Live music, great bites, the Youth Art Division and fun activities for kids make the festival a perfect experience for the entire family. The fest has an array of delectable bites and sips for purchase as well as live performances from Brad Cole, Jeff Libman, Ron Steta, Edgar Gabriel and Nicolas Tremulis.

Saturday-Sunday, June 22-23; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (both days). Suggested Donation: $5. The Art Center of Highland Park, 1957 Sheridan Rd., Highland Park.

3. Grayslake Art Festival & Wine Tasting

Fine wine and fine arts are just what the doctor ordered. The Grayslake Arts Festival and Wine Tasting features the work of over 60 juried artists. The vino will be provided by Irene’s Vineyard from Oblong, Illinois. Admission to the event includes a keepsake glass and five tasting tickets. There will also be fare vendors offering hot dogs and burgers. Entry to the event is free.

Saturday, June 22; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Downtown Grayslake, Whitney Street.

4. Beach Bash at Diamond Lake, Mundelein

Who can create the most debonair sand castle this side of the Mississippi? The Mundelein Park District’s Beach Bash can! The free event features swimming and sandy shores for the whole family at scenic Diamond Lake Beach. Start the day with Latin-themed Zumba dance (10 a.m.) and yoga on the beach (11 a.m.). The rest of the beach party kicks off at noon including the Ninja Warrior Competition (1 p.m., registration required), a contest for children ages six-12 years old. Finish the day with an evening of thrilling tricks from the Wonder Lake Ski Show Team (6 p.m.). For lunch and dinner, food trucks will be in attendance serving fare for purchase.

Saturday, June 22; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Diamond Lake Beach, 1016 Diamond Lake Road, Mundelein.

5. Key West Fest at Blarney Island in Antioch

Don’t have the time to make it out to the Sunshine State this year? No worries. Blarney Island is bringing the panhandle to the Midwest for an entire weekend of festivities at Key West Fest. Enjoy a weekend of good times, drinks, eats and a live performance lineup that includes John Solinski, Mr. Myers Band and Banana Wind. Shuttle service leaving from Port of Blarney on the half-hour cost $10.
