Let's look at Lake County's top five things to do this weekend, July 14-16.
The Volo Museum, located in Volo, Illinois, is a 36-acre museum that features over 10,000 mechanical marvels, including classic cars, Hollywood vehicles, planes, trains, boats, bikes, scooters, a 15,000-square-foot animatronic dinosaur park called Jurassic Gardens, an antique mall with over 300 vendors and more. The museum boasts over 45 exhibits, including the Military Museum, Crime and Punishment Museum, the Disney Exhibit, the Titanic exhibit, and Jurassic Gardens, highlighted by over 30 different dinosaurs. There are plenty of photo opportunities, including General Lee from "The Dukes of Hazzard," automotives from the "Fast and the Furious" franchise, the Mystery Machine from "Scooby-Doo," the Disney double-decker bus, the Batmobile from the Batman DC Comics franchise, the van from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," the station wagon from "Ghostbusters" and so much more. The renowned collection has been featured on The Travel Channel, History Channel, and Discovery Channel. On Saturday, the Lake County museum hosts its Supercars for Charity Car Show, highlighted by incredible cars in collaboration with Chitown Exotics, delectable eats, an RC race track, and more. Fall in love with your favorite season again during Vernon Hills Days. The annual Century Park fest invites residents and visitors to have a bite to eat, take a ride on a carnival ride, view a pyrotechnics show, and enjoy an abundance of live entertainment. Six Speed Tranny, Bryan White, the James Barker Band Gaze, the Cryan' Shames, Mike & Joe, and the Saturday headliners – the legendary Buckinghams, highlight the live music schedule. The Windy City-based band formed in the late 1960s and became one of the top-selling bands of 1967. The five individuals are known for hits like "Kind of a Drag," "Don't You Care," "Hey Baby (They're Playing Our Song" and more. The Vernon Hills event also hosts the Vernon Hills Park District 50th Anniversary Wine Tasting, a bags tournament, bingo and kid-friendly activities. How about a bit of fun in the sun in Antioch? The Taste of Summer Festival and Sidewalk Sales in Antioch features carnival rides for the family, deliciously prepared eats from the village's top restaurants, a patriotic light show each night, splendid merchandise from the area's sidewalk sale, and exceptional live acts in the Brook Bandshell. Participating fare vendors include Rivalry Alehouse, The Lodge of Antioch, and more. Some bands gracing the bandshell stage include 7th Heaven, Think Floyd, Hi-Infidelity, Johnny Russeler & The Beach Bum Band, and more. It's a different world than where you come!" Diversify your music palette with tunes from around the world at Highland Park's World Music and Food Fest. International cuisine, from sweets to snacks to appetizers to entrées, will be at your disposal while the sounds of Indian, Mexican, Irish, and other countries' songs play throughout the day. Live acts include DJ Taz Rashid, Indian, Spanish Senegalese and Arabic music from the Surabhi Ensemble, Celtic punk band The Tossers, Reggaton brother duet Gego Y Nony and New Orleans Funk The Rumble featuring Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. The festival hosted at Highland Park's The Lot also is highlighted by delectable cuisine from Singh's Kitchen, Ravinia Brewing Co., Michael's Grill & Salad Bar, and more.

Even if you don't own a DeLorean, you can travel back to the past to experience the 16th-century English Elizabethan era just over the Wisconsin border. The renowned Bristol Renaissance Faire opens its drawbridge for the season featuring sword fighters, maidens, minstrels, and jesters. There are many photo opportunities for having the chance to meet and greet legendary celebrities such as Queen Elizabeth and Robin Hood. The Faire also offers games, rides, arts and crafts, eats, live music, and one-of-a-kind encounters with a spectacular cast of characters.
