The WinterFest extravaganza commences indoors with the sounds of Harper's Back Porch Revue, a diverse group of nearly 20 musicians. Explore Volo Bog's 37th annual Nature Photo Contest. On the upper floor of the visitor center, WinterFest presents an array of winter crafts catering to children and adults. Refreshments will be available for purchase courtesy of Friends of Volo Bog. For adventurous people, Volo Bog State Natural Area has a lineup of activities, including 45-minute bog tours. The event features an engaging snow sculpting contest welcoming participants of all ages to exhibit their artistic prowess with enticing prizes. Visitors to the bog are encouraged to bring along skis or snowshoes for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and hiking on the extensive five miles of trails. To support the state natural area and the festivities, a suggested donation of $10 is proposed for adults, while children can enjoy this event free.
