Happy Sunday! Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. I received a last-minute invite to a fundraiser called Street Scenes. Event took place Saturday, and proceeds will help fund student tuition at Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein. Street Scenes featured lots of local vendors, restaurants and bands, with various themes displayed throughout the venue. This particular shot is of a band playing in the Irish Pub room. Very cool - first time attending and will definitely want to go back next year! ?

1. Carmel Catholic High School's Street Scenes

Shake off the winter blues at Carmel Catholic High School’s Street Scenes: Lost Around the World this weekend. The Mundelein high school festival will be adorned with several well-known global landmarks and themes. The event features over 30 live bands, dozens of delicious local Lake County food vendors, popular casino games, the fan-favorite student show and more.

Friday-Saturday, February 8-9; 6:30 p.m. Admission $49. Carmel Catholic High School, 1 Carmel Pkwy., Mundelein.

2. Chain O' Lakes Ice Fishing Derby and Winter Festival

Antioch throws its 59th installment of old-fashioned chilly season fun with the Chain O’ Lakes Ice Fishing Derby and Winter Festival. Experience the carnival atmosphere that is highlighted by raffles, auctions and games for all ages. Visitors can register to fish for hourly prizes competing in the smallest or largest catch categories. Anglers can win up to $4000 in prize money. The event that is one of the oldest and continuous festivals in Illinois also features an ice shanty contest, delicious bites and so much more. Visit the Northern Illinois Conservation Club website at mynicc.org to sign up for the derby.

3. Codename: Operation Watchtower at the National Museum of the American Sailor

Drop anchor at the National Museum of the American Sailor’s “Codename: Operation Watchtower” event this weekend. The Naval Station Great Lakes museum welcomes the Historical Miniature Gaming Society-Midwest for an educational and exciting re-creation of the campaign of Guadalcanal in honor of its 75th anniversary. Visitors will explore the strategies used during the six-month, WWII battle in the South Pacific and how it affected the war. Attendees will then “change history” with gameplay through the major battles.

4. Highland Park's Cupid Love Dash 5K

Go hand in hand with your significant other and fall in love running in beautiful Highland Park. The 10th annual North Shore Cupid’s Love Dash 5K takes place Saturday morning throughout the beautiful streets of Highland Park. The NorthShore Cupid’s Love Dash provides each participant with a race medal, Valentine’s Day candy, hot chocolate and more after crossing the finish line. Free race parking is offered at the train station lots at St. John and Central streets.

Saturday, February 9; 8:15 a.m. Race day registration begins at 7:15 a.m. Admission: $20-$40. East Parking Lot, 445 Central Ave., Highland Park.

5. Lambs Farm's "Sweets for Sweetie"

Fly your little Cupid to Lambs Farm this weekend for the cherished Sweets for Sweetie event. The Libertyville café will be transformed into a Valentine’s-themed boutique where attendees will have the opportunity to decorate, package and personalize various items. The free, three-hour open house offers several sugar-themed activities from no cost to $4.
