It's the final weekend to check-in to local distilleries, wineries and breweries in order to win a prize. A celebration of beer is also happening in Grayslake. They are embracing the season in Ingleside with live blues music and family fun. The high school in Zion is celebrating Black History Month. A Tony Award-nominated play continues its run in Lake Forest. Lets take a look at the top five things to do this weekend February 25-27.

It’s the final weekend for the Lake County Libation Trail Month/Check in Challenge! The Lake County Libation Trail is highlighted by local producers of craft beer, wines and spirits. Whether your adult beverage is an ice-cold frothy lager, a dry red merlot or an old-fashioned on the rocks, Lake County has precisely what you need to make your taste buds dance. The Visit Lake County campaign is highlighted by Bosacki’s Brewery and Tighthead Brewing Co. in Mundelein, Copper Fiddle Distillery, Roaring Table Brewing Co. and Phase Three Brewing Company in Lake Zurich, Light the Lamp Brewery and Glunz Family Winery & Cellars in Grayslake, Nightshade and Dark’s Pandemonium Brewing, Zümbier Brewery and Oppidan Spirits in Waukegan, Buffalo Creek Brewing Co. and Valentino Vineyards in Long Grove, Half Day Brewing Co. and Wright’s Brew and Bistro in Lincolnshire, Mickey Finn’s Brewery in Libertyville, Only Child Brewing Company in Gurnee, Ravinia Brewing Company in Highland Park, Side Lot Brewery in Wauconda, North Shore Distillery in Green Oaks, Pazzo di Vino and 28 Mile Distillery in Highwood, Harbor Brewing Co. in Winthrop Harbor, Wild Onion Brewery in Lake Barrington, Harbor Brewing Co. and 9th Hour Brewing Co. in Lake Villa, Vigneto del Bino Winery in Antioch, Lynfred Winery in Wheeling, Liquid Love Brewing Co. in Buffalo Grove and Black Lung Brewing Co. in Round Lake Beach. Check-in while visiting one of these adult beverage makers and have a chance to win a new Libation Trail Roster Shirt. The long-sleeved 100% cotton shirt lists all the Libation Trail partner locations to visit this year. Once 50 names are drawn after March 1, winners who respond to email notifications with their name and mailing address within seven days will be awarded a shirt to wear proudly. Break out those neon windbreakers, baby bangs, and butterfly clips with a beer in hand, at this Grayslake 1990s festival. The Lake County Craft Beer Festival returns to the Lake County Fairgrounds and Event Center for its seventh installment. With over 36 local and regional breweries, distilleries and wineries represented, admission includes a souvenir glass and 25 sample tickets. Suds aficionados also can indulge in axe throwing, an escape room and live music. The Grayslake mainstay offers delicious Lake County eats like Nashville hot chicken sandwiches, deep-fried pickles, empanadas, BBQ, tacos and hot dogs. The Lake County Libation Trail is well represented at this brewfest including Black Lung Brewing Co., Bosacki’s Brewery, Buffalo Creek Brewing, Glunz Family Winery and Cellars, Half Day Brewing Co., Harbor Brewing Co., Light the Lamp Brewery, Liquid Love Brewing Co., Nightshade and Dark’s Pandemonium Brewing Co., Phase Three Brewing Co and Ravinia Brewing Co. Visitors must be age 21 and older to enter. General admission is $60 and designated driver admission is an extra $10.

Celebrate Black History Month with friends and family at the 32nd annual Black History Program at Zion-Benton Township High School. This free event hosted by the Zion Park District features singing, dancing, guest speakers, poetry and more. The ZeeBee event also provides a box lunch during the program in the cafeteria.

In the wintertime, some are prone to be indoors as couch potatoes, while others are more adventurous in the snow. Volo Bog State Natural Area’s Winterfest, now named Breaking Up Winter after the January postponement, features storytelling, photo contest awards, sing-alongs, arts and crafts, hikes cross-country skiing, a snow sculpting contest, live music and a slew of other fun winter-themed festivities. Inside you’ll be able to catch live blues music from Lake County local musical act, The Ivy Ford Band. The National Natural Landmark will be sure to warm you up with complimentary hot cocoa and coffee.

Receive a slice of rural Irish life while viewing “Outside Mullingar” at Citadel Theatre in Lake Forest. Written by celebrated playwright and screenwriter John Paul Shanley, the charming tale tells the story of Anthony and Rosemary, two introverted neighbors awkwardly fumbling through life. The narrative evolves through a series of mishaps and misunderstandings as romance blooms showing how it’s never too late to take a chance on love. During its 2014 Broadway run, the Shanley play received a Tony Award nomination. The production runs through March 13.
