1. Fox Lake's Polar Plunge 2020

Dive in headfirst as brave souls take a dip in the frozen waters and chill out at Fox Lake’s Polar Plunge. The proceeds of this plunge help raise money for the Special Olympics Illinois. After a breezy walk in the Nippersink Lake, a warm lunch will be provided for plungers for $5 (benefits go towards the Special Olympics). Depending on how many funds you and/or your team build, ice divers can win prizes like a polar plunge hooded sweatshirt, a 26-ounce YETI Bottle and other awards. 2. Valentine's Dinner and Comedy Show at the Holiday Inn & Conference Center Gurnee

"What did watermelon the say to their Valentine? You're one in a melon!" Take a break from the cheesy jokes this weekend at the annual Valentine’s Day Dinner and Comedy Show at the Holiday Inn Chicago North - Gurnee. Kick the night off by sharing a romantic dinner buffet with your special someone. Watch experts in the funny business as 95 WIILRock Morning Show MC Tom Kief introduces two Chicago comedians in Bob Jay and Peter Lipsey. Laugh the night away as Jay specializes in voice-over and impersonations, while one-liner, punchline-heavy Lipsey makes for an unforgettable date night experience. Put the “art” in “heart” this Valentine’s Day weekend at ArtWauk in Downtown Waukegan. Get ready to experience the sights and sounds in this monthly celebration of art that showcases mediums of virtuosos and musicians in a can’t-miss night of entertainment. The city’s culinary prowess has a renowned reputation. Grab a bite and a few of 100 varieties of pints that Green Town Tavern offers. Lake County Libation Trail participant, Nightshade and Dark’s Pandemonium Brewing host The Westerlees for live entertainment, while Mac & More pop-up restaurant serves cheesy treats that complement your glass of suds. 4. Lula Washington Dance Theatre at the James Lumber Center

The dance artists tell stories that explore a variety of different social and cultural issues, including aspects of African American culture and history. 5. Improv Playhouse Presents: Love Overboard: A Love Boat Mystery Dinner at Jimmy's Charhouse in Libertyville

Discover your inner Sherlock Holmes as the Improv Playhouse Presents “Love Overboard: A Love Boat Mystery Dinner” on Saturday. This Valentine’s Day-themed murder mystery show, hosted by Jimmy’s Charhouse in Libertyville, the audience plays detective and grills the suspects to crack the case wide open. The “steaks” have never been higher as this interactive performance features props, storylines and planted clues to help solve this whodunit. 6. Valentine's Skate Night at Centennial Ice Arena in Highland Park

Swivel over frozen terrain with your soulmate to your heart’s content at the Valentine’s Skate Night at Centennial Ice Arena. The Park District of Highland Park event features a variety of holiday-themed raffle prizes that families and couples can enter in. The Centennial Ice Arena offers skates for rent for $3 a pair. Children skaters must be accompanied by an adult.
