1. Vigneto del Bino Vineyard and Winery’s Holiday Celebration

Take time this season to un-wine-d at Vigneto del Bino Vineyard and Winery’s Holiday Celebration. Visit the Antioch vineyard for a day of festivities and wine tastings to help get you into the holiday spirit. The Lake County Libation Trail participant’s event features seasonal wine, food samples, a gift basket raffle and live music.  Stock up on your favorite vino for the holiday season or give a bottle to someone on your nice list.

2. Quentin Road Christmas Musical in Lake Zurich

Experience a unique presentation of Christmas past that you will never forget. The Quentin Road Baptist Church Christmas Pageant is a Lake County tradition highlighted by 300-voice children and adult cast, dramatic lighting and live animals, including an eight-foot camel. Follow the story of the first Christmas night in a musical scored with original songs and orchestration by David Clydesdale.

Friday-Sunday, December 13-15; Fri.: 7:30 p.m., Sat.-Sun.: 1:30 and 5 p.m. Tickets: $10-$35. Quentin Road Baptist Church, 60 Quentin Rd., Lake Zurich.

3. Performathon Holiday Concert and Open House at the David Adler Center

View and singalong during the David Adler Music and Arts Center’s “Performathon.” The production is the Libertyville center’s annual student-led fundraiser for scholarships and musical programming that ensures access to arts education. The day-long festival features holiday performances, festive goodies, crafts, an artisan gift shop, an ornament- making workshop raffle prizes, an afternoon S’more Station and much more. All are welcome to attend this free all-day marathon performance that finishes with a holiday sing-a-long at 7 p.m.

4. Holidays at the Hostess House at the National Museum of the American Sailor

“Anchors Aweigh on a one-horse open sleigh” as the Hostess House at the National Museum of the American Sailor is the splendid event for young and old. Visitors can assemble care packages and a gift for an active duty sailor. The Naval Station Great Lakes Museum free event features a meet-and-greet with Santa Claus, ornament crafting, cookie decorating and a holiday-themed scavenger hunt.

5. Ruth Page Civic Ballet's "The Nutcracker" at the James Lumber Center

Sashay your way into the holiday season by experiencing the beloved Ruth Page Civic Ballet's rendition of "The Nutcracker” at the James Lumber Center in Grayslake Originally performed at the Arie Crown Theatre in Chicago from 1965 until 1997, this production beautifully recreates Ruth Page’s, full-length staging from its time in Chicago. This show will impress the audience with its blend of dancing, stunning costumes and magical settings like the "Land of Snow" and the "Kingdom of the Sweets" on the College of Lake County stage.

Saturday, December 14; Show times: 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tickets: $10-$25. James Lumber Center, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake.

6. “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at PM&L Theatre

“When it was over people stood around the lobby of the church talking about what was different this year. There was something special.” The PM&L Theatre presents “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” a family-friendly, holiday staple. The comedic live production showcases the Herdman kids cast in their local church’s Christmas pageant. The Herdman siblings are always into shenanigans as the kids create mayhem on stage. The Antioch production derived from the best-selling young adult book by Barbara Robinson is sure to be a hilarious holiday romp in what is sure to be a hilarious holiday romp. This show runs on weekends through December 22.

Friday-Sunday, December 13-15; Fri.: 8 p.m., Sat.-Sun.: 2:30 and 8 p.m. Tickets: $10-$18. PM&L Theatre, 877 N. Main St., Antioch.
