After an enjoyable week at the 91st annual Lake County Fair, we're already into the top things to do this weekend August 2-4. Time flies when you're having fun in the summer.

That doesn’t mean summer is over. Lake County still has so much for to do you before the leaves start turning brown, and your children head back to the grueling schedule of school. Continue here to see the top 10 things to do in August.

1. David Adler & GLMV Chamber Festival of the Arts/MainStreet Libertyville Dessert Walk and First Fridays in Libertyville

You're invited to the 2019 Festival of the Arts THIS WEEKEND! Enjoy live music, entertainment, beverages, food vendors, a community mural project and more. View and purchase artwork from over 70 artists, representing 6 different disciplines, including jewelry, painting, ceramics, and printmaking.

Invest your fest feels on a festive festival-infested Friday through Sunday in Libertyville. The David Adler Festival of the Arts has showcased some of the most exceptional work from artists across the country. As many as 70 talented individuals will have their work on display. This event hosted by the 100+-year-old facility will also feature a youth art division to celebrate the talent of children. Besides the unique artwork on display, attendees will experience live music, divine fare and plenty more at the Libertyville festival in Cook Park. But wait, there’s more! After filling your artistic appetite, pamper your sweet tooth with a stroll down the MainSweet Dessert Walk on Saturday noon-3 p.m. The dessert makers participating in this saccharine event include Main Street Social, Sunset Foods, Casa Bonita and 18 other vendors. To kick-off your weekend, head to First Fridays on Main Street for a wine tasting, live tunes, exceptional deals, a book signing, fortune-telling and eats from award-winning restaurants.

Friday-Sunday, August 2-4; First Fridays: 6-9 p.m., Festival of the Arts: Sat. 10 a.m-9 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Dessert Walk: Sat. noon-3 p.m. Various admissions. Most events occur in Cook Park. Cook Park, 413 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.

2. Taste of the Towns in Lake Zurich

Indulge in a food journey this weekend at Lake Zurich’s annual Taste of the Towns. The Paulus Park event will feature samples from dozens of local restaurants, eateries, caterers, food retailers, breweries, distilleries and wineries. The divine bites will be complemented by the sweet sounds of live music. The event is also highlighted by dozens of kid activities as well as a bags tournament. Admission includes one taste from each vendor; additional tasting tickets are available for purchase.

Sunday, August 4; 3-7 p.m. Tickets: $3-$90. Paulus Park, 200 S. Rand Rd., Lake Zurich.

3. Deer Park Jazz & Wine Festival

“At Last!” If you are “In a Sentimental Mood,” or feeling “Fine and Mellow,” take your “Caravan,” to the free of admission Jazz and Wine Festival in Deer Park. “They Say it’s Wonderful.” The one-day jazz event features performances from James Sander’s Conjunto headlining. Other performers include the Frank Russell Band, George Fludas and Pocket Change, Francesca Castro and her quartet and the Dan Ferris Quartet. Face painting and balloon art will be available for the kids from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano in Deer Park is serving food and libations for purchase. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs.

Saturday, August 3; noon-9:30 p.m. Free admission. Deer Park Town Center, 20530 N. Rand Rd., Deer Park.

4. Great Lakes Brick by Brick Lego Ship Building at the National Museum of the American Sailor

Your youngsters can become the new master builders to work with Emmet Brickowski and Wyldstyle. The National Museum of the American Sailor hosts their inaugural LEGO Brick By Brick event to share their masterpieces. Children ages four-to-12 years old can enter either the Home Build Competition or the On-Site Competition to contest against other master builders. LEGO constructors can also enter to win a LEGO Store gift card. The U.S. Navy event also features LEGO activities, building education and fare from the Naval Station Great Lakes’ Morale, Welfare and Recreation Food Truck.

5. North Point Marina's Harbor Days/Venetian Night

Walk the plank to North Point Marina’s Harbor Days Festival and Venetian Night this Saturday. The boating party will feature the “SUPER HEROES” Lighted Boat Parade, a slew of kiddie activities, a vendor fair, live music from DJ Mike and The Rough Cut, open swim in the marina’s new swimming pool, tons of eats and beverages, pyrotechnics and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for the parade following at dusk.
