New Attraction Planned for Six Flags Great America in 2025

By: Sam Ornig 01/17/2025

Prepare to elevate your thrill-seeking adventures to new heights as Six Flags Great America unveils its latest record-breaking coaster: Wrath of Rakshasa. Scheduled to debut in 2025, Wrath of Rakshasa towers at a massive 180 feet tall, making it the world’s steepest drop with the most inversions on a dive coaster.

Thrill-seekers will be in for a wild ride with Wrath of Rakshasa's face-first cliffhanger hold, which suspends riders above the beyond-vertical drop before they plummet an exhilarating 171 feet. With five gravity-defying inversions, speeds of nearly 67 miles per hour and over 3,200 feet of soaring track, Wrath of Rakshasa promises all riders an adrenaline rush they won't forget.

“Six Flags Great America continues to push the limits of innovation and thrills, as we introduce the world’s steepest drop with the most inversions on a dive coaster,” said Park President John Krajnak. “Wrath of Rakshasa joins our already impressive lineup of record-breaking roller coasters and attractions at the park, demonstrating our commitment to delivering cutting-edge experiences for our guests.”

Wrath of Rakshasa is scheduled to make its debut in 2025 in the County Fair section of the park across from the fan-favorite roller coaster, Demon. For more information and updates on Wrath of Rakshasa, visit sixflags.com/greatamerica.

Known as the Thrill Capital of the Midwest, Six Flags Great America's Wrath of Rakshasa is a welcome addition to rides like the Midwest's tallest pendulum ride Sky Striker, which boasts speeds of up to 75 miles per hour, and Maxx Force, which broke three records as the tallest and fastest inversion coaster and fastest acceleration in North America. The Gurnee amusement park's sister park, Hurricane Harbor Chicago, also features world-class water coaster, Tsunami Surge, towering an incredible 86 feet with a top speed of 28 mph over 950 feet. And a three time Guiness Book World Record holder, Goliath, fastest wooden coaster at 72 mph, tallest drop for a wooden coaster at 180 feet and steepest drop for a wooden coaster at a near-vertical 85 degrees.

Don't miss your chance to experience the excitement of Wrath of Rakshasa. Visit SixFlags.com for more information on Wrath of Rakshasa and the park's thrilling 2025 season. Get ready to soar to new heights and make unforgettable memories at Six Flags Great America.
