Aquatic Centers and Pools in Lake County, IL

There's nothing quite like the sound of splashing water and kids' laughter carrying across a summer afternoon. It's one of the simplest joys of a Lake County summer. Whether you're cooling off after a scorcher or squeezing in one more pool day before fall creeps in, our aquatic centers and pools have you covered. We've rounded up the best spots in Lake County to make a splash this season.

Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center in Gurnee

The Gurnee Park District operates the Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center, offering amenities for every kind of guest. Dive into seven waterslides, cool off in the zero-depth entry pool designed to help younger swimmers acclimate, or explore the interactive play area for kids. Guests can grab refreshments at the Cattail Café, cool off under the cascading waterfall or test their speed and endurance in the lap pool. Sand volleyball courts and a private pool rental space are also available for parties. Prefer to skip the entrance fee? Adler Park Swimming Pool and Riverside Pool in Libertyville

Looking for a convenient, affordable, fun-filled outdoor pool for the whole family? Adler Park Swimming Pool in Libertyville has you covered. The pool features diving boards, three water slides and a giant sandbox for kids, plus two lap lanes available during public swim hours. Libertyville is also home to Riverside Pool, and both facilities are available for rentals. Learn more at libertyvillerecreation.com.

Riverside Pool: Open daily 11 a.m.-6 p.m., June 6-Aug. 8. Daily rate: $10-$12. Riverside Pool, 870 Country Club Dr., Libertyville.

The Esper A. Peterson Foundation Family Aquatic Center in Grayslake

The Esper A. Peterson Foundation Family Aquatic Center in Grayslake has something for all ages. There is a sand play area, zero-depth entry and a frog slide for infants and toddlers. For teens looking to spend time in the water, there are a 120' body slide and 180' tube slide, an in-pool climbing wall and a basketball hoop. Adults can relax in over 300 lounge chairs in the shade or sun. The center also includes a concessions area and lap lanes. Learn more at villageofgrayslake.com.

Port Shiloh Pool in Zion

Port Shiloh Pool in Zion was built in 1955 as a traditional public bathing facility. There were two swimming wells, one with diving, a bathhouse and a pump house. A complete renovation was done in 1993, turning it into a family aquatic facility. The updates included a zero-depth pool, a lane pool, tube slide and body slide. Outside of the water, there is a lawn area and concessions. Port Shiloh Pool is available for rent for birthdays and family reunions. Visit zionparkdistrict.com/swim for more information.

Turtle Creek Waterpark at Vernon Hills Park

Turtle Creek Waterpark in Vernon Hills promises fun summer memories for all. There are three slides, a lap pool and leisure pool, a lazy river and a 10,000 square foot spray ground. Guests can enjoy refreshments from Bobo's Poolside fast diner. Other amenities include a sand play area, shade structures and deck chairs. Find out more at vhparkdistrict.org.

Open weekdays 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. and weekends 11 a.m.-7 p.m. through August 9. Hours change toward the end of the season. Day rate for waterpark and sprayground: $16-$20. Turtle Creek Waterpark, 635 N. Aspen Dr., Vernon Hills.

BAREFOOT BAY FAMILY AQUATIC CENTER IN MUNDELEIN

Since opening in 2006, the Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center, a six-acre family water retreat in Mundelein, has been cooling off patrons during the warm summer months. The facility has an AquaClimb Water Wall, a tube slide, a nearly 23,000-gallon diving well and a main pool with a floating critter walk. Barefoot Bay offers four bodies of water: a combined leisure and lap pool, a wading pool for toddlers, a plunge pool and a lazy river. Mitchell Pool and Deerspring Pool and Sprayground in Deerfield

In Deerfield, you can cool off at Mitchell Pool or Deerspring Pool and Sprayground. The Mitchell Pool features a six-lane, 25-meter pool ranging from two to five feet in depth, along with an ADA-accessible ramp for all guests to use. There are one- and three-meter diving boards and a drop slide. A separate wading pool has geysers, water cannons and a slide.

Deerspring Pool offers a six-lane, 50-meter Olympic-size pool ranging from three to five feet deep, ADA-accessible stairs and a portable, accessible chair lift. The pool also features a water slide and a zero-depth wading pool. A new addition to the Deerfield facility is the Deerspring Sprayground, offering slides and interactive spray features with above- and ground-level water spraying. Mitchell Pool: Open weekdays for public swim 12:30-8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Day rate: $12-$14. Mitchell Pool, 951 Wilmot Rd., Deerfield.

Deerspring Pool: Open for public swim Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday 12:30-6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Day rate: $12-$14. Deerspring Pool, 200 Deerfield Rd., Deerfield.

Antioch Aqua Center

Built in 2013, the Antioch Aqua Center features a 20-foot water slide, vortex whirlpool, grand staircase, zero-depth entry, play structure, six-lane, 25-meter pool, diving board and bathhouse. The pool is open every day from Memorial Day to Labor Day, except for a few dates when it is closed for special events or swim meets. To get up-to-date information, visit the Antioch Parks website.

Open Monday-Saturday noon-7 p.m. and Sunday noon-6:30 p.m. Day rate: $8-$10. Antioch Aquatic Center, 739 Main St., Antioch.

Hidden Creek AquaPark at the Park District of Highland Park

Spend the day having fun at Hidden Creek AquaPark: speed down the water slides, free-fall from the drop slide, climb through the water playground, swim in the zero-depth entry, six-lane lap pool or simply relax on the deck. If you don't feel like swimming, stretch out on the lounge chairs in the large deck and lawn areas to catch some rays or cool off in the shaded spots. Learn more at pdhp.org.

The Aquatic Center at Peterson Park in Vernon Hills

The Aquatic Center at Peterson Park in Vernon Hills has a wading pool, slide and main pool to enjoy during summer. A concession stand is on-site with slushies, fresh-popped popcorn and nachos. For more information about the Aquatic Center, visit vernontownship.com.

Paulus Park Beach and Breezewald Park Beach in Lake Zurich

Paulus Park Beach is open for the season for all guests, though the sprayground is closed at this time due to ongoing construction. Breezewald Park Beach, open only to Lake Zurich residents, is home to Sunset Pavilion, which features a playground and spectacular views while strolling through nature. Paulus Beach: open daily 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Day Rate: $10-$12. Paulus Park Beach, 200 S. Rand Rd., Lake Zurich.

Breezewald Park Beach: open daily noon-7 p.m. Free to Lake Zurich residents only. Non-residents must have a current beach pass. Breezewald Park Beach, 125 N. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich.

Great Wolf Lodge Illinois in Gurnee

In Gurnee, Great Wolf Lodge Illinois is more than just a waterpark full of wet and splashy fun. Family-size bowling lanes, indoor miniature golf and an enormous redemption arcade offer great spots for friendly family competition and laughter. This ultimate staycation retreat is home to 400 suites in a variety of styles. Reservations and details can be found at their website, greatwolf.com/illinois.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Chicago in Gurnee

Splash, twist and slide at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Chicago in Gurnee. They take it to the extreme with the world’s tallest water coaster, Tsunami Surge. Reserve a cabana and relax in style without worrying about having to stake your claim poolside. Pool at North Point Marina in Winthrop Harbor

North Point Marina in Winthrop Harbor offers beautiful views, a quiet environment and a heated, kid-friendly pool. The pool is open every day from Memorial Day to Labor Day. It's the perfect place to sit, relax and enjoy the scenery at the largest marina on the Great Lakes. Pool parties can be hosted there as well. Learn more by visiting their website.
