The Lake County Folk Club will present its monthly acoustic concert on Sunday, Aug. 17, featuring singer-songwriter Owen Walsh.
Walsh has been telling stories and performing music his entire life. Born and raised on the banks of the Lackawaxen River in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, a small historic coal-mining town, he grew up surrounded by relics of 19th century American life and imagery that would later shape his music.
He began playing violin at age 3, studying formal repertoire. At 12, he discovered his father’s old Epiphone guitar tucked away in a closet and taught himself to play. Soon after learning his first few chords, Walsh began writing songs, following in the tradition of Americana folk music, where lyrics hold equal importance to the melodies.
The concert opener will be Cath Kasmer.
